Degree studied and university:
I am studying Mechanical Engineering at the University of Bradford.
Current Role at 3M:
I am currently working as a design placement student in the Hardgoods Team.
What attracted you to join 3M?
I hadn’t heard of 3M until I started searching for placement opportunities involving design/simulation. I was fascinated by the amount of amazing products the company had produced, leadership in various engineering sectors and long-lasting reputation of excellence. I knew getting the opportunity to work in a design department in 3M would give me a huge platform to develop my skills and abilities and also give me an invaluable opportunity to put my theoretical knowledge into practice.
What have you done since joining 3M?
I work within the Hardgoods team and I have been involved in various exciting projects. I have been involved in the optimisation of a test device which involves redesigning and 3D printing. I have also designed and printed (3D printing) fitting parts in the development stage of projects.
What do you enjoy most and least about your job at 3M?
Best – I find quite a lot of things enjoyable such as coming up with solutions to problems, designing real life products (e.g. lab testing device), researching and working with different people in different job functions which helps me to build a good professional network and also increase my overall knowledge of the company.
Least – I pretty much find everything interesting and I am learning a lot more than I expected.
