About the role

A great opportunity to join the manufacturing engineering team and earn while you learn alongside experienced engineers.

The graduate level apprenticeship is a 4-year programme, with the one day per week spent at Heriot Watt University and the other days at our Glenrothes manufacturing facility on rotational assignments in each of the production areas and support teams.

This apprenticeship leads to an Honours Degree in Electronic or Mechanical Engineering. (BEng (Hons) Engineering Design and Manufacture)

Assessment Centre Dates: 2nd & 3rd July 2024 (candidates need to be available on this day for interviews and assessment day. Details to be discussed with successful applicants).

Main Duties

  • Work alongside engineers, from a variety of disciplines, to meet the manufacturing engineering department’s goals and objectives
  • Learn and implement lean manufacturing principles and root cause and corrections actions
  • Support the development of new manufacturing processes and products
  • Work with cutting-edge technology and be part of our Industry 4.0 transformation
  • Work with production staff to identify improvement opportunities and solve problems affecting manufacturing
  • Generate manufacturing documentation, risk assessments and tooling reports
  • Support production teams to meet their safety, on-time delivery and cost of poor quality targets

Apprenticeship Programme:

On joining Raytheon UK, you will undertake a structured four-year apprenticeship programme which will incorporate theoretical study at university in electronic or mechanical engineering.

Experiential learning, throughout the four years, will be undertaken in the four years, on-site at Glenrothes, on rotational assignments in each of the production areas and support teams.

Each apprentice is assigned an experienced engineer as a mentor and will be linked in with an existing apprentice as a buddy, to ensure they have access to help and support, as required.

Salary will be reviewed twice annually throughout the apprenticeship and apprentices will be eligible for company bonus scheme as well as other company benefits.

Candidate Requirements:

  • Higher Maths (A or B) and Higher in Physics or an Engineering subject (A or B)
  • Or HNC/D in related Engineering course (A or B)
  • Self-motivated, proactive and able to use initiative
  • Able to work well in teams
  • Able to communicate well, both written and verbal
  • Good at problem solving
