Summary of Role:

Raytheon UK, Glenrothes are looking to recruit an experienced Electronics Manufacturing Process Engineer to join the Circuit-Card Assembly (CCA) / Printed-Circuit Board (PCB) Manufacturing support business area.

Electronics Manufacturing Process Engineers are primarily focused on Manufacturing equipment and process integrity, effectiveness, and efficiency. They take ownership for process & equipment performance, driving continuous improvements and addressing quality issues throughout the manufacturing process.

Working in a high reliability, low volume / high mix environment, the Electronics Manufacturing Process Engineer will liaise with internal customers such as Design, New Product Introduction (NPI), Manufacturing Engineering and Quality teams in order to understand drawing / build requirements.

Attention to detail, excellent communication/organisational skills and an innovative approach will contribute to success within the role. The successful candidate will be placed in a well established team and will work collaboratively on solutions with their peers.

Training will be provided where necessary to port existing knowledge to Raytheon specific systems as long as base knowledge exists vs the process/platform area.

The Glenrothes Manufacturing facility has seen significant investment over recent years in terms of the capital investment of Manufacturing equipment (including new & emerging technologies) and in infrastructure investment such as site services. There are 2x on site staff canteens and free charging for Electric Vehicles is also available. 

Whilst this is an on-site role and targeted as a day shift role, options could be available in terms of condensed working weeks or shift patterns. Candidates who are not local to Fife may find a condensed working week to be appealing.

Main Duties:

Specific duties/responsibilities include:

  • Develop and implement robust/repeatable manufacturing processes
  • Ownership/responsibility of process/equipment throughout the Product Value Stream
  • Machine program generation and platform support for Electronics Manufacturing equipment & processes
  • Implementation of Engineering Change Notes (ECN)
  • Design for Excellence (DfX) Analysis and collaboration with Design teams
  • Drive “Zero-Defect” Quality levels (Mission Assurance)
  • Achieve On Time Delivery targets
  • Effective use of manufacturing data and analysis techniques to proactively identify and address issues, driving systemic Root Cause/Corrective Action
  • Report and maintain Process/Equipment Engineering metrics, track performance & yields against team KPIs and Individual Goals & Objectives
  • Drive continuous improvements through the use of Best in Class and World Class Manufacturing principles.

Candidate Requirements:

Essential:

  • Minimum of HNC in an electronics related subject (HND/Degree preferred) or relevant industry experience will also be considered
  • Working knowledge of Electronics Manufacturing processes & methodologies

Desirable:

  • Experience of at least one or more of the following processes: -
    • Stencil Design
    • Screen Printing (solder paste)
    • Jet Dispensing (glue/paste)
    • Solder Paste Inspection (SPI)
    • Surface Mount Technology (SMT) placement machines
    • Reflow oven profiling
    • Automated Optical Inspection (AOI)
    • Automated X-ray Inspection (AXI)
    • Manual X-ray Inspection (MXI)
    • Pin Through Hole (PTH) technologies
    • Circuit Card Wash processes
    • Circuit Card De-panelisation
    • Conformal Coating processes
    • Underfill systems
    • Specialist electronics rework equipment
  • Experience working in a high reliability electronic assembly environment (Defense / Medical / Aerospace). Applicants from a Commercial Electronics background are also encouraged to apply.
  • PFMEA experience
  • Understands the principles of 6 Sigma (or equivalent methodology) and Lean Manufacturing
  • Knowledge and experience of Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) and Manufacturing Execution Systems (MES)
  • SPC knowledge to control process performance
  • Familiarity with IPC-A-610 guidelines (including recent revision updates)
  • ESD awareness
  • COSHH & Risk Assessment
