Summary of Role:

Manufacturing Engineering Technician, working as part of an Integrated Product Team (IPT), supporting a programme within the Manufacturing function at Raytheon. Role will report into Manufacturing Engineering to support minimum of one programme but possibly multiple programmes.

Main Duties:

  • Create and maintain standard rework routers and Temporary Work Instructions (TWIs).
  • Raise appropriate rework routers for units.
  • Maintain and improve manufacturing specifications to ensure compliance and ease execution for associates.
  • Support tooling & equipment requirements, e.g. maintenance, calibration, replacement, raising purchase requisitions.
  • Provide support to the production line, deal with queries and challenges from Production Floor personnel.
  • Support team in PRB activities and other quality investigations.
  • Assist in the set up and operation of the manufacturing layout.
  • Review manufacturing performance metrics and report any anomalies or trends and determine root cause and corrective & preventative actions.
  • Attend internal meetings on Program and Process; participate in Customer conference calls when required.
  • Support all Environmental, Health & Safety standards and requirements.
  • Support audit and verification activities as required.

Candidate Requirements:

Essential:

  • Qualification – HNC in Mechanical/Manufacturing Engineering or previous experience and knowledge can be used to determine competence.
  • Understanding of Manufacturing processes and requirements.
  • Knowledge of MES systems (e.g. Visiprise).
  • Basic data analysis techniques, e.g. extract data from MES system/SAP and spreadsheet analysis.
  • Self-starter, prepared to generate ideas and initiate action.
  • Ability to take direction and instruction.
  • Ability to work as an active contributor to a team.
  • Competent communicator – written and verbal – ability to take technical information and express it in layman terms for Operations staff to use.
  • PC literacy with MS office packages as a minimum.
  • Hands-on approach to issues on the line.

Desirable:

  • A demonstrable interest in manufacturing or engineering.
  • Manufacturing processes and requirements.
  • Flexibility to work other shifts & extra hours if required.
  • Working knowledge of manufacturing software packages (Minitab, SAP, MES Systems).
  • Experience / Interest in critical thinking & problem solving.
