Our 3-year programme will provide you with exposure to different areas of our finance directorate through a series of 9-12 months placements. You will gain a breadth of experience whilst undertaking a role that makes a real difference to our organisation.
We’ll support your development throughout the programme, and you’ll receive accredited accountancy training through the Institute of Chartered Accountants in England and Wales, a major professional body. With support from senior colleagues, you will enjoy the chance to plan and manage your own training.

The Strategic Road Network (SRN) is arguably the biggest and single most important piece of infrastructure in the country. It is at the core of our national transport system. Highways England’s strategic road network consists of more than 4,300 miles of motorway and major A roads including a highly complex asset base of more than 16,000 structures 21,000 miles of pavement and 110,000 technology assets.
Our finance directorate is responsible for managing the company's £4 billion a year finances, overall governance, assurance and risk management, managing the company's large and dispersed estate, processing damages claims and the operation of the Dart Charge facility. A lot of what we do is like oil in the organisational machinery. We make the business work more smoothly and we help everyone to do their jobs better.
