Lauren - ‘The programme is a great way to meet other people'.
NDA’s mission to safely and efficiently clean-up the UK’s nuclear legacy across its 17 sites is one of national importance. Doing this with care for our people, communities and the environment is at the heart of our work. We will apply the principles of sustainability to ensure that our mission outcomes and the journey to deliver them balance environmental, economic and social impacts. NDA’s 120-year programme is tackling some of the highest hazard facilities in the world, with current outstanding liabilities estimated at £135bn.
NDA sets the overall strategy for decommissioning and waste management across its sites and performance manages its businesses – such as Sellafield – with the aim of maximising value to the taxpayer. It is also home to the UK’s world leading nuclear transport capability, with a fleet of 4 ships and over 100 locomotives.
The NDA group is committed to being an inclusive workplace, made stronger by different ideas from different people, with different backgrounds.
During the programme you will be studying towards your CIMA professional qualification via blended learning (classroom teaching and on-line) to become a Chartered Management Accountant. The CIMA Professional Qualification is recognised worldwide as the most relevant global finance qualification for a career in business. The CIMA qualification is split into Certificate, a standalone ‘beginner’ qualification, and Professional, which is split into three levels: Operations, Management, and Strategic.
The CIMA Certificate in Business Accounting (Cert BA) will help students with little or no accounting experience unleash their true business potential. The Operational level focuses on the short term and the implementation of decisions. The Management level focuses on translating long term decisions into medium term plans. The Strategic level focuses on long term strategic decision making. Candidates will be able to support organisational leaders to craft strategy; evaluate and manage risks that might prevent organisations from successfully implementing strategy; value organisations; and source financial resources required to implement of strategy.
Anyone can study the CIMA qualification, whether they’re new to finance and business or an experienced professional.
During the 2-year programme, alongside your CIMA studies, you will also complete a “Core Training” package, which will include:
Be assigned a dedicated mentor upon starting the programme. This mentor will stay with you right through until your achievement of becoming a Chartered Management Accountant.
Have mid and an end of secondment appraisals which will track your progress against set objectives
Be supported by Energus’ dedicated Programme team who will be on hand to provide professional and pastoral support. Our Programme Team are all Mental Health First Aiders.
Upon completion of the three-year programme we will support you to commence a substantive role within one of the organisations within the NDA group (DSRL, NDA, Magnox, Nuclear Transport Solutions, Nuclear Waste Solutions or Sellafield) to continue with your career and professional development.
During your time on the Finance, Audit & Risk Development Programme you will be given the unique opportunity to experience the different aspects of NDA’s complex and ever-changing industry within different businesses within the NDA group. In addition to working in the finance team, you will spend the second year in the audit and risk teams across the NDA group to gain more invaluable and insightful experiences. This role will allow you to specialise in one of these areas in your final year of the programme.
