Working at Barclays

Find out what it's like to work at Barclays.

About the role

Perhaps you have a talent for building great relationships. Maybe you thrive on the pressure of fast-paced decision making. Or you might want to stretch your problem solving or communication skills. Whatever your strengths, you can make the most of them in one of our teams.

Quantitative Analytics Off-cycle Associate

What to expect

Our Quantitative Analytics team is a global organisation of highly specialised modellers and developers responsible for researching, innovating, developing, testing, implementing, and supporting all quantitative models used for valuation and risk management across all asset classes. The ability to articulate your ideas will be crucial as you work closely with business partners to develop models and tools, and perform analyses to help guide business decisions, manage risk, formulate and test quantitative strategies, and drive revenue generation and capital utilisation.

Here, you’ll take on new challenges and learn how to put complex models and quantitative techniques into practice. You’ll develop specialist expertise and work closely with business partners across the bank to develop and deploy models, analytics and tools. This is your opportunity to gain invaluable exposure to real world problems by working on cutting edge quantitative and technology solutions. Joining a group that partners with traders and risk managers across the bank, you’ll help deliver solutions that improve everything from the way we develop, deploy and run quantitative models, and create strategies to manage risk.

How you’ll develop

You’ll be surprised by what you can achieve. From beginning to end, we’ll do everything in our power to make sure you get the very most from your internship.

We’ll surround you with challenging projects and opportunities to grow and learn. We’ll keep you motivated with encouragement, feedback and support as you build your leadership skills, technical know-how and business acumen. We’ll help you connect with mentors, and network with colleagues and senior leaders alike. You’ll get the chance to give back to the community through volunteer events. And if you really impress us, this could be the beginning of an incredible career. We invite top-performing interns to join us as full-time analysts after graduation.

Who thrives here

Logical problem-solvers do well here. You’ll have completed or be in your final year of a postgraduate qualification, of a Masters or higher, in a technical discipline such as Physics, Mathematics, Operations Research, Quantitative Finance, Economics, Statistics, Stochastic Calculus, Computer Science, or other STEM subjects, with strong programming skills, particularly C++, Python or Java. You’ll be great at communicating and collaborating – motivated by pace and pressure and driven to achieve and search for the best solution. You’ll also be ready to develop a deep understanding of what we do, why we do it, and how your role impacts our business outcomes. These are qualities that people at Barclays have in abundance, and we’ll help you develop and strengthen them from the day you arrive.
