We’re recruiting for students to join our Project Management Officer Industrial Placement programme at our Moorgate office (London).
Training, development, and support for you
Over the course of this 12-month programme, you'll have the opportunity to immerse yourself in hands-on learning, working on real-world challenges that directly impact the energy industry.
Most of your learning will be on the job, supported by your mentor and the teams around you. You’ll have a chance to apply your academic training to genuine industry problems while completing modules that contribute towards your degree.
Previous students on a Project Management Industrial Placement have been involved in projects such as:
Supporting the delivery of critical packages of works, including the preparation and installation of primary circuit components in the heart of the nuclear reactor.
Working alongside the construction and contractor teams to deliver important enabling works to allow major milestones to be achieved; including readiness of the major cranes used to build the plant.
Taking the lead on smaller work packages, including resolution of risks and issues, to obtain first hand experience of the range of skills required in the role and actually deliver a part of the plant’s construction journey.
Looking at how radiation protection supports the building and operational life of new power stations; developing the skills necessary to support a wide range of teams in order to provide advice on radiation protection.
Assisting in running, maintaining, and developing the condition monitoring programme throughout a plant.
Supporting improvements to safety through communications campaigns, training, and other improvement projects.
What we’re looking for
A wide range of disciplines across Science, Technical, Engineering, Maths, Project Management, Digital, Data, Business, Communications or Humanities.
A genuine interest in the energy industry and a passion for sustainability and being a part of making a difference.
We will need you to be open minded, flexible and have an agile way of thinking to succeed in a dynamic fast paced project environment.
Having a strategic mindset that brings innovative ideas.
Effective interpersonal skills are key, as well as being able to demonstrate high ethical behaviour, integrity, humility, and character.
Effective communication skills will be required to manage your stakeholders whilst prioritising competing demands.
The Project Management Office is responsible for the key functions of:
Project controls – covering schedule, cost, risk, opportunity and change management as well as reporting and data analytics to support efficiency delivery and decision making across the project.
PMO Operations – ensuring the effective running of the PMO and high quality responses to diverse requests to delivery from external stakeholders (including the regulator, shareholders, assurance providers and others)
Programme Excellence + Innovation – a small team with the skills, tools and methods to catalyse business change, supporting the project in delivering improvement initiatives to drive efficient delivery.
Digital & Data – A critical enabler of the project, overseeing project wide data flow, integration and governance across the project, implementing required IT and IM systems and services to deliver the project.
