Job description:

Student or Graduate ideally must be from a Mechanical, Manufacturing or similar engineering fields.

Previous work experience is desirable but not necessary. You will have the ability to work under pressure and perform well as a team member. It is essential that you will have following general skills and knowledge for our Placement Scheme:

  • Have a metallurgical back ground
  • Knowledge of Steel heat treatment processes
  • Good knowledge of MS Office
  • Proven ability to work effectively on own initiative and effectively contribute within a team environment
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy
  • Self-motivated and able to prioritise tasks
  • Data analysis

Some of the projects the candidate will be involved in are:

  • Interpretation of material composition results to identify correct heat treatment parameters to ensure right first time
  • Ability to forecast furnace temperatures based on data analysis

Expected learning outcomes for the candidate:

  • The candidate will gain practical experience of work in aerospace production environment
  • The candidate will implement a right first time heat treatment process to support OTD thus reducing costs to the business and improving efficiency
  • The candidate will have an opportunity to identify, analyse and discuss with experience team members how theoretical concepts are applied in working environment.
  • Acquire and develop technical skills in materials testing and analysis
