The MDP is unlike most graduate programmes. It is designed to develop people who one day could be senior leaders running our manufacturing plants and, as our flagship programme, it has the personal attention of our CEO. We have a different philosophy to most companies and it is based on 6 key principles; we believe people grow best when they have challenging projects, the projects must matter to the senior leaders of the plants, MDPs must have access to excellent support to help them succeed, we will keep the programme small to ensure there is no “getting lost in the crowd' and those on it have to be of the very highest calibre.

We are looking for people who believe they have the potential to grow into a senior management role in one of the world's fastest growing manufacturing companies. You must have a strong manufacturing, mechanical engineering or metallurgical degree, some experience of working in manufacturing and believe you can contribute to continuing our success. Most of our successful applicants typically can also demonstrate evidence of extracurricular success in leading people, have spent time working in manufacturing industry (probably on a placement), are ambitious, mobile (relocation is part of the programme), resilient and are fast learners.
The Management Development Programme is comprised of 4 assignments of 6 months each. Each assignment is clearly defined and will matter to the Senior Management where you are based as it will have a measurable and significant impact on the success of their business. The first assignment is usually an improvement project and the second will be a more complex project with some people management responsibility. The third varies but is designed to help you understand how a plant functions and the fourth will see you running your own production team working to achieve your targets while ensuring they are safe and motivated.
Alongside the assignments you will be expected to progress through the MDP curriculum. We want to help you succeed so you will be supported by a Mentor as well as the MDP Director who is an experienced coach and leadership development expert.
On graduating from the Programme, MDPs typically take on supervisory roles in operations or project management and progress rapidly.
£2,000 “transfer into work” allowance.
1. Do you hold, or are you studying towards, a manufacturing, metallurgy or mechanical engineering qualification (at Degree level or higher) from a European University?
2. Do you have at least 6 months' experience working in a manufacturing/engineering organisation using your engineering knowledge?
3. This programme requires that the participants are mobile across the UK. Are you able and willing to relocate to these areas if required?
