At Timet Witton we melt raw materials, including sponge and alloy additions, into ingot that is forged into billet for external sales and intermediate product that is further processed at our facility in South Wales for aerospace uses.

We are looking for an enthusiastic, talented, ambitious and skilled individual who thrives on a challenge to undertake a placement within our Quality and Technology Department. This is an investigatory role which will involve working on the shop floor, interacting with production operators and other members of the organisation to produce and process quality data. It is an exceptional opportunity for an active student to gain experience in a Titanium manufacturer that operates on a global level.


  • Identify and analyse specific process routes that experience high downstream losses
  • Understand specific failure modes which incur yield losses
  • Develop a data capture process for key characteristics of small diameter billet from the forging press through to final inspection
  • Develop acceptability limits for final forged product
  • Work with team to identify and implement actions and solutions in line with findings

Candidate Requirements

  • Must be enrolled in an accredited residential college/university
  • Student must have successfully completed first year prior to co-op assignment
  • Student must be pursuing a minimum of a Bachelor’s degree in an engineering subject, ideally Manufacturing/Production/Industrial Engineering
  • Will be able to demonstrate an understanding of how to approach problem solving and find solutions
  • Will be able to work with minimal supervision
  • Must be able to communicate and interact with all levels
  • Must possess a positive “CAN DO ATTITUDE”
  • Must be able to adopt the Right to Left Thinking philosophy-Begin with the end in mind-what do you want the end result to be?
