Timet Swansea produces Titanium in Bar, Plate and Sheet form. It includes hot rolling bays for bar and flat, bar finishing, flat finishing and Service Centre.

We are looking for enthusiastic, talented, ambitious and skilled individuals who thrive on a challenge to undertake a 12 month placement within our Organisation based at our Waunarlywdd Plant in Swansea. You will work within the Manufacturing Engineering Department on projects to help with cost reduction, improve throughput and yield and continuous improvement.

The role will involve the analysis of current process variables to help understand the capability of the manufacturing route to meet metallurgical requirements and conformance to engineering drawings. This is an exceptional opportunity for an active student to gain experience in a Titanium manufacturer that operates at a global level.

Assignment Responsibilities

  • Collect and review processing information to establish manufacturing route capability.
  • Support with continuous improvement activities and projects across the business.  
  • Support the business with lean activities and initiatives. 
  • Support with and develop additional measurements and process controls as necessary.
  • Develop an understanding of the PCC toolbox including Daily Flex, Productivity Pipeline, Lean and TOC (Theory of Constraints) Tools to improve the machining set up, optimise furnace utilisation and standardise processes.

Candidate Requirements

  • Must be enrolled in an accredited residential college
  • Student must have successfully completed first year prior to co-op assignment
  • Student must be pursuing a minimum of a Bachelor’s degree in engineering or materials science
  • Must possess a Positive CAN DO ATTITUDE
  • Must have a Strong sense of urgency
  • Must be able to adopt the Right to Left Thinking philosophy– Begin with the end in mind – what do you want the end result to be?
