Assystem is the second largest Nuclear Engineering organisation and provides technical engineering support across the world, supporting complex Nuclear New Build, Decommissioning and Defence programmes. 

It is a fantastic time to join the industry. Nuclear in the UK is seeing a recent renaissance with the UK government pledging its support for both large and small-scale nuclear energy projects.

Assystem is an international & independent engineering company, operating in 10 countries with 6,000 employees.

We are currently looking for two Graduate Project Managers, one in Warrington, the other in West Lakes, to go through our rigorous Graduate Programme. The successful person will work closely with your dedicated line manager, who will review and manage your technical performance & development throughout your assignment. 

Assystem provides our customers will all aspects of the Project Management Office, from cost engineering through to programme management, of simple and complex projects.

During the programme the role holder will be taught to support and lead engineering projects from within the project management office team. There will be training, development and learning opportunities provided from stakeholders throughout the business and mentoring provided from business leaders. 

Main responsibilities will include. 

  • Development of project execution strategies 
  • Development of procurement/acquisition strategies 
  • Project monitoring and progress reporting 
  • Schedule development and management 
  • Sub-contract management/contract administration of supply chain organisations 
  • Management of risks and opportunities 
  • Support governance reviews and audits 
  • Supporting Project Management activities across various clients

As part of your development, you’ll be encouraged to become an ambassador for Assystem, supporting our #INCREDIBLEWOMEN and #INCREDIBLENGINEERS initiatives at events, conferences and in outreach activities to schools and colleges.

About the programme? 

Delivering projects within the scheduled time-frames and budgeted costs requires a significant level of competence and skill. The Assystem graduate programme will provide you the tools and experience that will set you on the path to becoming a project delivery professional. Over the course of the programme you will be developed through placements on real projects with different customers, specific assigned tasks, and formal qualifications. Throughout the programme you will be provided with a professional mentor to support you on your journey. 

We are looking for candidates who want to be part of a growing, exciting business with the desire to help us deliver safe and sustainable solutions within the nuclear decommissioning, defence and new nuclear sectors. 

Successful applicants will have specialised in Engineering Project Management and who are either completing the MSc in Engineering Project Management in 2022 or already hold the qualification. 

Candidates will operate in project teams or with key stakeholder and so it is vital to be able to know how to build strong relationship with internally and within our customer base. 

Behaviours are paramount for this role. Essentially candidates will need to possess pro-activity, enthusiasm, positivity with strong leadership skills and a desire to make a difference in their career.
