Assystem, more than 50 years of experience as an engineering company

Assystem is an international & independent engineering company, operating in 10 countries with 6,000 employees.

Assystem is the second largest Nuclear Engineering organisation and provides technical engineering support across the world, supporting complex Nuclear New Build, Decommissioning and Defence programmes.

It is a fantastic time to join the industry. Nuclear in the UK, is seeing a recent renaissance with the UK government pledging it’s support for both large and small-scale nuclear energy projects.

We are currently looking for a number of Graduate Instrumentation & Control Engineers in Bristol, to go through our rigorous Graduate Programme. The successful person will work closely with your dedicated line manager, who will review and manage your technical performance & development throughout your assignment.

Main Duties

  • Contribute to the development of design packages for Instrumentation & Control based systems, for our clients.
  • Deliver a broad range of engineering consultancy and support services to Assystem clients.
  • Present findings internally to Assystem teams and externally to clients, requiring excellent communication and presentation skills.
  • Act independently, or under instruction from an Assystem Lead Engineer.
  • Work within budgets for assigned tasks.
  • Work in accordance with the internal Quality Management System.
  • Offer solutions to issues as they arise, rather than simply reporting problems for others to solve.
  • Bring fresh and innovative approaches to the way we deliver work.

What we are looking for (essential)

  • Minimum 2:1 BEng qualification in Instrumentation & Controls or similar.
  • An appreciation of the other main engineering disciplines, and the interactions with I&C.
  • The ability to methodologically approach tasks and provide justification for the decisions made.
  • The ability to plan and manage your own time within a time-constrained project environment.
  • A desire to learn, and a keen mind.

What you’ll gain by joining us

  • Access to a large team of experienced I&C engineers who are committed to helping develop the next generation of engineers.
  • High turnover of projects and customers for diverse experience. You won’t get bored in multi-year projects.
  • Exposure to a wide range of clients on sites all around the UK
  • Experience of working under pressure to deliver on time, to cost, and to a high level of quality. You won’t be alone, but you will be responsible and expected to deliver (and ask for help when you can’t).
  • Ability to move to different Assystem sites (and customer placements) nationally and internationally, if that is what you’d like to do.

Due to the nature of the work that Assystem undertake, candidates will be required to undergo pre-employment screening and must be able to satisfy clearance criteria for UK National Security Vetting. This will include meeting certain residency criteria and may include nationality limitations.

We've signed the Gradcracker feedback pledge.
