More than just one of the largest energy companies in the world, ExxonMobil is a place where we believe people should think independently, take initiative, grow to their full potential and help shape the future of energy. Diversity drives innovation and we are committed to providing inclusive workplaces where everyone can thrive and contribute.

The safety and wellbeing of our employees is at the heart of everything we do. We build skills and competencies through training and work experiences in a wide range of assignments. With a long history of industry leadership and cutting edge innovation, we are committed to providing affordable energy to support human progress while advancing effective solutions to address climate change.

We are Exxonmobil

Exxonmobil is working to deliver reliable and affordable energy and products.

In short, ExxonMobil is a great place to start and to build a career. Crucially, we offer our graduates real jobs from day one, which comprises varying opportunities aligned to your professional and personal development. Our graduate development programme provides you with an in-depth introduction to the company, hands-on experience within a manufacturing site, coupled with ongoing learning and technical training to enable you to succeed in your first job and beyond.

What would you be doing?

The programme is designed to build a career platform of technical, industry and specialist knowledge. It will give you the tools and opportunity to establish your own career path in various senior engineering positions and allow you to explore gaining further professional registration such as chartership, with support via our accredited MPDS IMechE scheme and IChemE mentoring programme.

Your first role will depend on your experience, but could include:

  • Contact Engineer – you could be providing daily technical support as part of a team on a unit ensuring on-grade production that meets global market demand
  • Project Development or Execution Engineer – you could find yourself working on a major capital project to reduce the carbon footprint of our business or increase the safety or reliability of our facilities
  • Process safety Engineer or Environmental Engineer – protecting our people, local communities and the environment by identifying and mitigating potential risks
  • Supply Chain coordination – optimising the profitability of the site through managing the movement and storage of feed, raw materials and products to meet market demand
  • Mechanical Integrity Engineer – ensuring the equipment we use across our sites deliver the performance we need safely and reliably.
  • Machinery Engineer – providing technical support within a Business team ensuring the reliable and safe operation of critical machines, or developing innovative improvements for long term fleet reliability

What are we looking for?

To be eligible for this role, you must:

  • Have at least a 2:1 (or equivalent) degree in Chemical Engineering or Mechanical Engineering (or equivalent)
  • Be graduating in 2023, or have graduated in the last 3 years
Be able to demonstrate a broad range of personal effectiveness and leadership skills, with the ability to facilitate and influence business decisions in
  • a team environment
  • Be motivated to continue your professional development as an engineer and work with Company mentors towards IChemE or IMechE Chartership, if not already obtained.
  • Relevant work experience would be advantageous, but is not essential.

What’s in it for you?

We start as we mean to go on. There will be structured training programmes, designed to give you solid foundations in both technical, management and behavioural skills, with ongoing support and development throughout your career.

You will also receive:

  • Competitive starting salary
  • Generous resettlement allowance
  • Defined Benefit Pension scheme
  • Share incentive plan
  • Private healthcare for employees and their families
  • Free Gym at most UK sites
