Autodesk Research have an opportunity for a Research Engineer internship with our London team. The internship is with our materials research team and the role will be focusing on advanced applications of materials technologies. You will be working with a talented team of engineers with a wide range of backgrounds in engineering, materials science and software.

The role will involve engineering design, application of advanced material technologies and programming. We are looking for a candidate currently studying an undergraduate or post graduate degree to work on a 3 month summer research project. Come join our team!

As part of one of the fastest-growing companies in the CAD/CAM industry, you will work alongside other research scientists, engineers and R&D developers in an environment that is both challenging and rewarding. As your skills develop, you will be expected to work using your own initiative to develop innovative solutions to meet our customers' demands for software that is faster, better, and smarter.


  • Apply new materials technologies in smart materials and meta materials
  • Collaborate with researchers and developers in the team
  • Participate in brainstorming sessions and come up with innovate ideas
  • Read papers and summarise findings
  • Evaluate existing methods
  • A relevant degree in a STEM field such as aerospace engineering, mechanical engineering, civil engineering, mechatronics or materials science
  • Good programming skills in Python
  • Excellent communication skills.

Preferred Requirements

  • Experience with electro-mechanical systems
  • Experience with CAD modelling
  • Experience with writing Python code (other languages are acceptable).
