Operating from 50 countries around the globe, the Caterpillar brand has developed into a symbol of strength, respect, and integrity. The organisation has a clear vision to be the global leader in providing customer value in the markets in which it operates. Our core values (Integrity, Excellence, Teamwork, Commitment and Sustainability) are key to our success.

At Caterpillar, We Build What Matters

It's your career. Make it matter. At Caterpillar, you build what matters – whether it’s the career you want, crucial work skills, strong relationships or new digital technologies.

What do we do?

At our Peterborough Campus we have a 500-person engineering team who design, develop, test and manufacture powertrain solutions for Caterpillar and third-party customers. Our world class test facilities and partnerships with leading universities allow us to develop new technologies and support our global manufacturing sites. We have an ever-growing focus on next generation powertrain solutions, helping our customers progress towards Carbon Net Zero. We harness the power of data science and advanced simulation techniques, alongside traditional engineering disciplines, to create sustainable digital services and solutions that will power our customers’ future.

What experiences can we offer you?

Test Data Systems are the frontline team directly responsible for Test Automation and Data Acquisition Systems used in power system development. We are automation champions - using our skills in system integration and debugging, we develop, integrate and configure automation and data management software to  deliver  a comprehensive, feature rich, flexible,  optimised  and  robust  set of  automated test solutions  (logic and infrastructure) that can be used by our internal partners to efficiently develop power systems.

As a Graduate Engineer based at our Peterborough Campus, you will engage in challenging work, solving real-world engineering problems through collaboration with our global team. You will be responsible for the successful implementation and deployment of new requirements, features, improvements and bug fixes within our test automation platforms. You will help develop our test solutions to provide a robust, maintainable and cutting-edge platform that works for all our customers’ needs. You will work closely within a global team comprised of Product Owners, Software Architects, Automation Developers and Testers.

If you have an interest in automation scripting, software development or integration, Electronic system integration or Mechatronics, this could be an exciting area for you to launch your career. And most importantly you will get the support, guidance and training you need to be successful at Caterpillar!

We also offer you a mentor to support your professional development and help you achieve Chartered or Incorporated Engineer status with your chosen institution. Our professional development scheme is accredited and highly regarded by the IMechE and the IET.

We hold a Meet and Greet day for all new UK Graduate students to provide you with an opportunity to meet fellow new starters across the UK before you start your placement.

What happens after the graduate scheme?

Upon successful completion of the scheme, you will be promoted to Senior Associate Engineer. This gives you the platform to continue your professional development journey and steer your career where you want it to go, be it a leadership role, technical expert, product leader or a commercial role. In a global organisation there are so many possibilities.
