What do we do?

Caterpillar are looking to hire a graduate resource to join the European network team. This position, based in Peterborough, is for an IT Analyst design/implementation and support engineer. Primarily providing remote network support services to Caterpillar Facilities in Europe, Africa, and the Middle East (EAME) and globally when required. The position will report to the EAME Network services supervisor who is based in the UK. Providing adhoc remote support for network related incidents as and when required.

What experiences can we offer you?

The successful candidate will have the opportunity to work independently and as part of a regional or global team, as well as with teams from other disciplines (Firewall, DNS, DHCP, Servers and Storage etc) within Enterprise Technology Services group of Caterpillar.

  • The job will involve developing Local Area Network designs, building the configurations following Caterpillar standards and then deploying those designs.
  • As a graduate within the team, you will be given the opportunity to manage small network related projects using project management methodologies as well as actively participating as a member of larger project teams.
  • Some travel may be expected as part of the role including implementations in other countries within the region, relevant expenses will be covered as required and a valid driving License is required.
  • There is an expectation that some out-of-hours work will be required so flexibility will be expected, joining the on-call rotation for 1 week every 2 months.
  • English is the required language but working with the regional team involves many countries, so a second language is an advantage.
  • Cisco CCNA and CCNP qualifications will be a significant plus.

What happens after the graduate scheme?

After successful completion of the rotational programme, you will progress into a key role where you will directly contribute to the operational and project activity that is at the heart of our business. We will provide you with the training and support you need to be successful at Caterpillar.   

Who are we looking for?

  • It is essential that applicants should have achieved or be on track to achieve a minimum of a 2:2 in a computer science or equivalent discipline.
  • Valid driving License is required

We are looking for talented, ambitious people from various backgrounds who are interested in setting out on the road to success.

In addition to the essential criteria above, demonstrable skills in some or all of the following areas would be beneficial:

Cisco familiarity including: -

  • IOS upgrade
  • WLC controller configuration
  • Cisco Switch configuration
  • Silverpeak/SDWAN configuration
  • ISE
  • Familiarity with firewall designs.
  • Understanding of related technologies (DNS, DHCP etc.)
  • Fault finding skills
  • Good documentation skills
  • Strong collaboration skills
  • Basic Knowledge of ITSM Ticketing software/process (ServiceNow/Incident and Change).
  • Knowledge of network analysis tools (NetBrain, ThousandEyes, ScienceLogic, SolarWinds))
  • Good Knowledge of Microsoft Office suite, (Outlook, Word, Excel, Power BI)


Salary : £31,380, £1,000 Sign on Bonus, 10% Annual Bonus, Share Scheme, Pension, Flexible working and 25 days annual leave (Plus bank holidays)
