Role Outline

This will be a 12 month work placement and is an excellent opportunity for someone who is looking to work in a chemistry lab environment. You will be working as a chemistry lab assistant and you will be required to carry out laboratory-based investigations, tests and scientific experimentation using bench and instrumentation techniques in support of several business functions associated with the chemistry of industrial water and gas analytical and measuring instruments.

Main Accountabilities

  • Work with minimal supervision to perform laboratory based investigations, tests and scientific experimentation using the appropriate scientific techniques, procedures and methods of relevance to the activities of the laboratory.
  • Perform numerical and statistical analysis of scientific data, and present the results clearly and concisely in written and oral form.
  • Use creative thinking and problem solving techniques such as root cause analysis, to challenge assumptions, innovate, make new proposals and build on existing ideas.
  • Comply with the corporate and regulatory standards and systems relevant to the workplace for quality, safe working, ethics and integrity, environment and risk management.
  • Contribute to the development of new processes and methodologies and support their implementation as part of a wider team.
  • Contribute to recommendations on the appropriate workflows, improvements or scientific solutions to meet the requirements of internal or external customers.

Essential

  • By the start of the placement, will have completed at least two years of ongoing undergraduate studies in chemistry or a related subject and be able to spend at least 12months in industrial employment.


Desirable

  • Practical understanding of electrochemical sensors
