Who we are

At Imagination, we love innovating. We spend our time creating the graphics and AI chips that are at the core of your favourite electronic products. We have big plans to expand our IP portfolio and to include RISC-V CPUs.

Our Culture

Our culture
Considering joining Imagination? Find out what it’s like to be part of the team.

We have a no-compromise approach to making our technology as high performance and power-efficient as possible, all while being squeezed into the smallest space possible.

It’s this relentless drive to push the boundaries of what’s possible that has led to Imagination powering more than 10 billion of the world’s most iconic electronic devices, from smartphones to smart TVs, from drones to self-driving cars.

We need your skills to help us continue to deliver technology that will impress the industry and our customers alike, ensuring that people everywhere can enjoy smarter and faster tech than ever before.

What you’ll be doing

The CPU Tools and Software team produces a high-quality Software Development Kit (SDK) for our RISC-V CPUs. As part of this SDK, we offer an Integrated Development Environment (IDE), based around Visual Studio Code, but customised to add value for embedded software developers working with RISC-V targets. This IDE is written in Typescript on an Electron framework, and uses web development technologies for the user interface.

We need you to help develop new features within this IDE. By enhancing the developer experience, you can play a key role in driving sales of our CPUs

While you will be coding primarily in Typescript, an understanding of our users’ development experience (embedded development and debugging in C/C++) is a key requirement.

You will:

  • Design and develop elements of the IDE user interface using Typescript/HTML/CSS.
  • Develop new features within the “back-end” side of the IDE such as interfacing to remote target platforms.
  • Document your work using design specifications.
  • Work closely with other team members to debug problems and develop new ideas.
  • Contribute to discussions on requirements for the IDE and influence the direction of development.
  • Depending on interest and aptitude, there will be many opportunities for career development and the possibility of moving into other areas of software development.

Hybrid Working Model

Imagination Technologies operates a hybrid working model globally that allows our employees to split their time between attending the workplace and working remotely. This role can be based at any of our UK offices; Cambridge, Bristol, King Langley or based remotely within the United Kingdom.

Who you are

Committed to making your customers, stakeholders and colleagues successful, you’re an excellent communicator, listener and collaborator who builds trusted partnerships by delivering what you say, when you say. You’re curious, solutions orientated and a world-class problem solver who constantly seeks opportunities to innovate and achieve the best possible outcome to the highest imaginable standard.

You’ll have:

  • A degree in Computer Science, Electronic Engineering or similar.
  • Experience of creating rich user interfaces using web technologies (JavaScript/HTML/CSS).
  • Knowledge of C/C++.
  • A sound understanding of computer architectures and CPU hardware.

You might also have:

  • Experience of coding in Typescript.
  • Embedded programming experience.
  • Experience developing Visual Studio Code extensions, or developing Visual Studio Code itself.

Who do you want to be?

Do you dare to think big? Do you want to change the status quo and speak up when you see how there’s a better way of doing things? We listen, we’re supportive and we’re open to new ideas. Whatever it takes to make an impact, you’ll be respected and helped along the way.

Our values are:

  • Customer-first
  • Collaborative
  • Committed
  • Innovative
  • Straightforward

We will value you

At Imagination, clear and shared values are important to us. They are the foundation on which everything else is built. We have five core values that underpin our culture and the way we work together, both as colleagues and as business partners. We believe in these values and are committed to putting them at the heart of everything we do.

We've signed the Gradcracker feedback pledge.

(This means that we will supply feedback if requested after an interview.)
