Coutts and Adam & Co have defined the private banking sector. We combine our expertise and experience building relationships with our clients to provide a world-class service. From banking and lending to investment management and specialist advice, we deal with the requirements of varied and notable clients. We understand the intricacies of international and high net worth individuals, and support their ambitions during the breadth of their journey with us.

About the programmes

There are three programmes available - Relationship Management with Coutts, Relationship Management with Adam & Co, and our Coutts Asset Management programme.

On the Adam & Company two year programme, or Coutts programmes (which are up to three years), you’ll deepen your understanding of private banking. By building your product knowledge and commercial awareness, you’ll be able to deliver first class solutions for clients. You’ll provide high net worth clients with relationship support and understand their challenges. You’ll also establish a network that’ll help you make an excellent start to your career as a Private Banker, Wealth Manager or Specialist.

What you'll do

Whichever brand within Private Banking you join, as a graduate trainee you’ll be able to establish a network that’ll help you make an excellent start to your career. We’ll equip you with the skills to be able to deliver first class solutions for our clients. You’ll provide high net worth clients with relationship support and understand their challenges.

On our Coutts Asset Management programme, you’ll get to know the Asset Management industry inside and out, including portfolio management, Fund Research, Investment Product, Investment Strategy, Investment Research and Construction.

Whichever programme you join us on, you can look forward to gaining:

  • An in-depth understanding of the diverse needs of high-net-worth individuals and their families.
  • An in-depth understanding of financial markets and wealth management.
  • The skills to interpret data and insights in investment strategy and risk.
  • Experience providing specialist advice and services to private clients and portfolio management to high net-worth clients.
  • First class client service skills and an understanding of our products and services.
  • An industry recognised professional qualification.

Development Opportunities

Depending on the programme you join, you’ll develop the skills that could lead you into roles including, but not limited to:

  • Investment Analyst.
  • Fund Analyst.
  • Research Analyst.
  • Product Specialist.

Supporting You

We pride ourselves on the professional support we offer our graduates, and the friendly, down to earth community our graduates have shaped.

Before you start, we’ll pair you with a ‘buddy’ (a graduate already on the programme) who’ll be there to help you get settled, answer any questions, and share their experiences.

You’ll also be assigned a line manager and a mentor. They’ll be there to provide support for the duration of the programme, as well as working with you to create a personal development Plan. They’ll provide advice on your rotations, help you reflect on your progress, develop your career, and build your professional network.

We’ll reward you with a starting salary of £31,850. On top of your salary you’ll also have access to our flexible benefits package.

About You

  • To be considered for this graduate scheme, you’ll need to have, or be on course to achieving a 2:1 in a STEM degree subject.
  • We’re looking for individuals who can adapt well to a rapidly changing business environment, who have an innovative streak, and a strong work ethic.
  • You’ll be someone with well honed communication skills, and a critical thinker to whom problem solving comes naturally.
  • You’ll also be an excellent team-worker, able to use your relationship management skills to support others and build credible connections based on trust and understanding the needs of your customers.
