Jasmine Fontaine

Vice President, Global Technology Programme

What path led you to choose Bank of America as your employer?

While I was studying at the University of North Carolina Kenan-Flagler, I decided that Bank of America was right for me. There are a lot of Global Technology opportunities within banking because so many interesting things are happening in the financial industry. Also, as a veteran I noticed the military support and assistance. When I came to the bank, I was met with open arms from so many in the organisation and I was really able to expand my network.

What are your day-to-day activities?

Every day is different and that is one of the things I love about my job. I support technology infrastructure for Global Banking and Markets. I work with a global team that deals with a lot of risk assessments so I need to be able to understand the security risk to help resolve vulnerabilities before they are exploited. I need to know how to solve a problem. Sometimes the solution is black and white, sometimes it is various shades of grey and I need to be able to determine when to apply a specific solution.

How would you describe the culture?

Everybody is hard working and works as a team to accomplish their goals. It is a very open environment where everybody shares their knowledge. We are not competitive, as in we are not competing against each other, but rather working toward one end goal. I also like how the company is dedicated to hiring diverse candidates. We search for talent that can provide diverse thoughts and ideas so they can contribute to groups and teams.

How would you describe yourself?

I would describe myself as compassionate, organised, and driven. I am passionate about learning new things from my peers. I also like to take some time from work to go and volunteer and participate in events that I am passionate about. I am part of a local organisation that helps veterans that are new to the area and connects them with other veterans as a connection to future employment or just a friendship. As a veteran, it’s something that is near and dear to my heart and I love that I am able to work with them.

What are you currently working on?

I am a liaison between Global Information Security and Technology Infrastructure. I provide information security insight to the infrastructure team so they understand the security risk in their area and guide them to resolve vulnerabilities before they are exploited. The team I work with is always willing and able to share what they know and provide feedback. It gives me a great sense of accomplishment when you have a team that is behind you.
