Our Year in Industry programme offers students who are still at University the opportunity to experience time in a global company. You could be working in our labs developing new concepts and innovations for our customers or researching into new breakthrough technologies for our vacuum solutions. It’s an amazing insight into life inside an organisation that is growing and developing at an incredible rate. Typically, the programme lasts for 12 months as a paid placement.

World Class Engineering Vacuum and Abatement Solutions

We are looking for candidates who are studying towards a degree in one of the following Engineering disciplines;

  • Electrical/Electronic
  • Manufacturing
  • Embedded Software.

Desired skills

  • Able to use IT equipment and systems
  • A confident communicator both face to face and over the telephone and via email
  • Able to work under pressure and juggle competing demands
  • Able to work independently and reliably
  • Able to plan own work and report on progress.


  • Studying towards a min Bachelors degree in one of the following engineering subjects; Electrical/Electronic, Embedded Software, Manufacturing.
  • BTEC Level 3 or Level 4 in an Engineering or equivalent or A levels at Grade C+ to include a STEM discipline.

Edwards is the leading global supplier of abatement and vacuum solutions for the manufacture of semiconductors, flat panel displays, LEDs and solar cells and a leader in vacuum technology for industrial, pharmaceutical, chemical, scientific, process, glass coating and food packaging industries as well as a wide range of R&D applications.

We employ around 4,500 people worldwide in the design, manufacture and support of high technology vacuum and exhaust management equipment. We offer a wide range of other pumping technologies and related products, supported by an international sales and service organisation.

  • Assessment day will be 30th January 2020.
  • Final Interviews will be w/c 24th February 2020.
