Digital Worker Analyst Intern

I study Computing and Business at University so an IT placement within Ford was a great way to learn how the two work together in one of the largest, global organisations. A placement with Ford is essentially a job role that you are assigned to for a year, and you feel genuine responsibility very soon after you join.

Outside of my assigned role, I have had the opportunity to visit other areas within Ford IT and Ford’s partner companies for work experience. For anyone on an IT or computing course, this is an incredibly useful opportunity to see which aspects in IT you might specialise in for final year at University, and ultimately work in after graduating.

My job title is ‘Digital Worker Analyst’. My role is to investigate and understand new programmes and IT tools to learn how they can benefit Ford, and to create and deliver relevant training material and events. As a ‘digital worker’ I work quite flexibly, working from home occasionally and in other offices when needed.

My day can vary from giving presentations and hosting seminars or events to project managing and creating guides and websites. The skills I have learnt will definitely aid in managing my time much more effectively when I return to University.

There are a lot of training and development opportunities at Ford. I have already taken some courses to help within my current role, and I have a few more to complete this year. Ford also supports EDAP, a scheme which gives you money to spend on non-work related training. I have used this to wakeboard as I run the society at University so I am still able to continue my extra-curricular activities and Ford helps to subsidise it.

I highly recommend a placement with Ford Motor Company. There is a huge amount to gain in just a year here, expanding knowledge and skills in different areas, competitive salary, great benefits and a range of work experience from a global company of great recognition. The IT function itself is very well constructed and there are many opportunities to develop within a year, and potentially further if you return.
