Job Description

Our graduate electrical engineers work in world class teams to design and deliver sustainable solutions. Our work spans a variety of sectors including Thermal and Hydro Generation, Transmission and Distribution and Renewable energy. 

As the digital revolution is applied to the provision of essential services, electrical engineering will play a central role in creating smart infrastructure, helping to deliver better and quicker performance. 

Join us as graduate electrical engineer based in our Genoa office, and you will have the option to work within either of the following areas: 

Energy Networks – Substation Design: You will have the opportunity to join a rapidly growing team expert in the design of electrical substations from transmission to distribution voltage level. Working on projects that span across different insulation technology (e.g., air, gas, vacuum insulated substations), including producing detailed designs. Guided by our technical experts, you will gradually become an electrical substation designer, and lead the interface with the other disciplines.   

Energy Generation – Thermal Generation: You will have the opportunity to work on the detail design works and OE services for power plants including renewables. You will work in a team preparing proposals, executing projects, and support management for developing new clients and markets. Delivering projects in accordance with agreed schedules at various stages including feasibility, and the planning and preparation of tender stage technical drawings, specifications and production of construction drawings and design compliance monitoring at construction stage for power plant applications; enhancing our business development and delivering projects in new technologies including renewable energy. 

About you

To apply for this scheme, you will have less than 12 months relevant work experience and have a degree or are expected to achieve one of the following degree disciplines:  

  • Electrical Engineering 
  • Electronic & Electrical Engineering 

In your application you should be able to demonstrate your interest in electrical engineering through relevant experience, such as studying relevant modules, or previous work experience and you will need to state your preferred area either within Energy Networks or Energy Generation. 

We are looking for graduates with the following characteristics: 

  • Methodical approach to problem solving 
  • Ability to use your initiative to undertake tasks efficiently and independently. 
  • Excellent verbal communication skills, which allow you to confidently liaise with clients and team members. 
  • Excellent written communication and attention to detail, and be able to demonstrate accurate technical drawings and good report writing.
