I found the company profile online and was really impressed with what I saw. The MTC had achieved great things since opening in 2011, and showed no sign of slowing down. The possibility of working on innovative projects in the MTC's excellent facility was an exciting and appealing prospect.
The structure of the programme offers a huge range of opportunities to incoming graduates, and the level of support and attention given to graduates was remarkable. Graduates make meaningful contributions to the company from the first week, and the opportunity to work across several departments throughout the duration of the programme gives graduates a high level of control over their career path.
It's hard to define a typical day. As projects develop, the range of day-to-day responsibilities and activities also develop in order to bring about the best results. The environment and staff are dynamic, a factor which has been key to the MTC's success.
Operating at a high level in this industry is always a challenge, and delivering quality output is central to the MTC operation. However, the first months of the programme involved several valuable training sessions and placements that allow a smooth transition from academia to becoming a valuable MTC employee.
The programme has given me the opportunity to expand and refine the knowledge and skill set that I developed in university, as well as acquire an entirely new set of skills and learn about emerging and novel technologies. In addition, the MTC provides a great professional environment, and career support is a key part of its graduate programme through its use of MPDS and graduate mentoring.
Absolutely - from the moment I arrived for interview I knew this was an excellent institution. Graduate programmes by definition are centred on growth and improvement, and having the opportunity to work in a company that is itself dedicated to continuously developing and improving has been a privilege.
Regarding advice, I would say be aware of the key dates, get to know the company before applying and enjoy the process where possible.
