Renishaw’s Manufacturing Services Division is seeking to recruit a Production Engineer to work within the current products engineering team primarily responsible for supporting Woodchester electronics manufacturing. The role will include the support of current products whilst also driving proactive improvement activities targeting quality, product cost and waste reduction.

This role will require the demonstration and development of several different skills (from technical, fault finding, data analysis, to communicating at multiple levels).

Note: New/recent Engineering/Math’s graduate applications will be considered.


The successful candidate will become part of a multidisciplined engineering team responsible for electronics production support, providing advice on a range of matters from reactive fault diagnosis, design changes & the impact on assembly, monitoring production performance & process improvements. They will be responsible for identifying & delivering improvements within the product, & assembly processes, whilst determining which activities to prioritise to meet the larger scale objectives of the business (Quality, Delivery, Cost).

Key requirements

  • Degree level education with experience working in a production environment
  • Excellent problem solving and practical skills
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • A high level of PC literacy
  • Good communication and social skills

Desirable requirements

  • Successful application of structured problem solving and statistical analysis techniques
  • Experience working within an electronics manufacturing environment (SMT and/or Through hole assembly processes)
  • Awareness of lean manufacturing tools & techniques
  • An understanding of production metrics

  • Ability to work well in both a team, sharing ideas and coordinating actions, as well autonomously, managing your own activities and meeting deadlines in both cases.
  • Good activity priority management
  • Ability to spot potential areas for improvement irrelevant of current tasks
  • Hands on practical ability
  • Maintain a positive can-do attitude
  • Ability to balance workload & thrive in a high-pressure environment
  • Strong communication & presentation skills
