Senior Engineer

"I highly recommend the Emerson graduate engineering scheme if you are looking to develop into an all-round engineer in a market leading company."

Aug, 2012 - Sep, 2014 Graduate Engineer

Oct, 2014 - Dec, 2016 Engineer

Jan, 2017 - Present Senior Engineer

Education: M.Sc Advanced Control and Systems Engineering, University of Manchester

I decided to apply to Emerson because of the status of the company as a leader in the Automation market. I joined the Graduate Engineering scheme in August 2012 and was highly impressed with the set–up of the organisation from my first day at the office.

The graduate engineering scheme which lasted for 2 years involved both hands-on, classroom and e-learning trainings. I had the opportunity to work on several projects where I gained diverse experiences. My scope of work during this period covered both Software and Hardware engineering. I was also on secondment with the Applications Support group within the organisation where I further developed my engineering capabilities.

By the end of the scheme, I had developed both the technical and soft skills needed to function at the next level of my career with Emerson.

Over the past 5 years, I have worked on projects covering the Oil & Gas, Life Science and Chemical industries. My actual day to day job varies and depends on the project I am working on. On most of the projects I have worked on, my role has been as a Process Automation System Engineer. This involves the development of functional and design specifications based on the requirements of our customers. I also carry out the implementation of the designs specified and test their functionalities during the Factory Acceptance Test with the customer.

I highly recommend the Emerson graduate engineering scheme if you are looking to develop into an all-round engineer in a market leading company.
