"The best part of this assignment were the various challenges, both technical and inter-personal, and the level of responsibility provided early on."
I studied Mechanical Engineering (MEng) at University of Leeds
EU Supply Chain Analyst for Air Products’ liquid bulk business. The role combined two exciting subject areas; supply chain management, and operations research. It was unique experience where I had the opportunity to enhance the mathematical models for production and distribution of liquid gases in our supply chain as well as utilise these models to drive the tactical and sales and operations planning processes across all regions of Europe.
The purpose of the role is to improve the supply chain of our liquid bulk business. We serve nearly 9000 customers across Europe with liquid nitrogen, oxygen, argon, hydrogen, and carbon dioxide. Supply chain planning involves co-ordinating ‘where, when, and how’ to best produce and distribute liquid gases to our customers whilst meeting profitability and service goals.
The best part of this assignment were the various challenges, both technical and inter-personal, and the level of responsibility provided early on. You will be leading your own projects to deliver the required results and learning some great skills on the way.
It was an incredibly rewarding experience; to combine the technical with the business, and to use my engineering skills in relatively unfamiliar situations in order to achieve real productivity and efficiency improvements. The support and guidance provided by my colleagues and my manager during my assignment was truly unparalleled and It has played a pivotal role in my development both professionally and personally.
