We are looking for an enthusiastic Service Engineering Placement Student to join our team on a 12 month placement commencing July/Aug 2022, specialising in Service Engineering Problem Identification and Escalation for our Engine Business Unit in Darlington Engine Plant/your remote home office.

In this role, you will make an impact in the following ways:

  • Uses prescribed and innovative methods and works with limited guidance.
  • Collaborates with the Field Service Engineers, Factory Experts, OEMS’s and End users to complete appropriate field investigations and data gathering of reported/predicted field issue through appropriate and available data
  • Assess each issue using available data analytical tools to develop initial hypothesis of the issue and possible causes and to determine current and extrapolated failure rates.
  • Develops and leads technical test plans and instructions to validate the issue and formulate ideas, with appropriate testing, of possible remedies.
  • Develops and validates temporary customer problem resolutions.
  • Prioritises, escalates and champions proven Service issues within the EBU through submission of appropriate Technical Support Documentation.

To be successful in this role you will need the following:

  • Technical Documentation - Knowledge in Technical Documentation of engine operation and repair. Detailed training and support will be provided throughout the placement.
  • Engine Installations – Knowledge in requirements of engine installations, interactions and their operation in a wide range of vehicle types.
  • Test and Test Plan Creation- Understand principles of testing and test methodology together with associated limitations with the ability to create novel test plans.
  • Structured problem-solving process - able to understand and apply structured problem-solving processes to resolve issues.
