We are looking for an enthusiastic Placement - EPS Engineer to join our team specializing in Engineering Plant Support for our Power Systems Business Segment in Daventry. During your placement with us, you will learn how a major global organization operates, gaining the tools and exposure you will need to become an expert in the industry and power your potential!

In this role, you will make an impact in the following ways:

  • Engineering Plant Support (EPS) is an engineering department which leads investigations and provides real engineering solutions. The aim of this team is to keep the manufacturing lines running by providing rapid response to engineering line stopping issues e.g. fit checks, part quality issues, process documentation, hands on solutions. EPS act as the link between the operations teams (Quality, Supply Chain, Manufacturing, Materials etc) and engineering and work cross-functionally daily in an exciting and varying environment. The scope of work covers all manufacturing lines including Blockline, Engine and Genset assembly, Cylinder head, Engine and Genset test.
  • You will be involved in conducting investigation work and working with various subject matter experts to form a quick solution which will enhance your problem solving, adaptability, confidence, and technical knowledge.
  • Although mainly a rapid response team, you will be in charge of long term projects (Engineering Change requests). As part this you will investigate solutions, lead design reviews, analysis work, and see your solutions implemented on the lines.
  • You will also promote a continuous improvement project focused on engine test to reduce the amount of engine issues raised once tested for shipment to customer. As a result of this, you will learn the facilities side of test cells and how parameters effect engine performance.
  • Once you have completed your placement with EPS you will leave as a well-rounded engineering placement student with broad technical skills and product knowledge and a large network base.

To be successful in this role you will need the following:

  • Studying towards a Degree in Engineering or equivalent related STEM degree discipline (including Mathematics, Physics and Chemistry).
  • Has experience in, and can demonstrate, relevant examples of Cummins core values e.g. voluntary work, community involvement activities, working with disadvantaged groups, charity related support, delivering outstanding results, teamwork, capabilities and outside education experiences.
  • Has clear thought processes and can show a reasonable approach to tasks, challenges, hobbies etc.
  • Able to work with other engineering and cross-functional disciplines to resolve product issues and able to participate as a team member and constantly contributes towards team goals.
