We use exploration geophysics to map the subsurface structure and our imaging techniques are based on applied physics, using high performance computer systems. CGG is a recognised leader in subsurface imaging and our international teams are dedicated to solving our clients’ complex challenges. We produce tailored products and customised solutions in pursuit of providing a deeper understanding of the Earth’s subsurface structures for exploration, production and optimisation of oil and gas reservoirs.
Reporting to the Research Advisor, the Researcher will develop, implement, test and support new algorithms to improve imaging of the subsurface. You will understand purpose of research for subsurface exploration, and the need to continuously stay abreast of technology, in order to develop and improve research activities for business units and clients.
As a research geophysicist you will develop algorithms to solve a specified geophysical problem whilst validating algorithms of synthetic and real data to assess the strengths and weaknesses of the proposed approach. You will also support the rollout of new technology through internal presentations and user support, as well as promote new technologies to clients through scientific publications and presentations.
You would be expected to continuously develop your knowledge by reading academic publications, attending presentations, workshops, conferences and seminars.
Educated to a Master’s, with 3 years’ experience or PHD degree level in any of the following disciplines; Geophysics, Mathematics, Engineering, Physics or related technical discipline.
