Job Description

CGG Data Hub are looking for interns with a passion for python programming and open source technology. As a python developer intern you will be contributing to an open-source code as part of a global data model for the energy industry domain (OSDU). This will entail contributing to an existing open source code for schemas and data definitions. You will be responsible for picking up a backlog of tasks and communicating with the project lead and other developers.

The ideal candidate will have an enthusiastic attitude towards learning and the flexibility to adapt to new challenges as well as efficiently managing your own time.

The role can be offered full time if you have completed your degree or offered part time if you are still completing your studies. The contract length will be initially of 3 months, with possibility of extension.

We provide leading edge technology solutions and services to solve our clients’ data transformation and analytics challenges across a range of industries including geothermal, environmental, hydrocarbon and mineral exploration. You can choose between remote working or hybrid at either of our hub locations (North Wales or Crawley) and you will be working alongside our teams of data engineers, machine learning engineers and subject matter experts.

Qualifications and Experience

  • BSc, MSc or PhD in any of the following disciplines:
    • Computer Science
    • Mathematics
    • Engineering
    • Physics
    • Related Computing subjects
  • Coding proficiency in Python
  • Basic understanding of databases and SQL
  • Working knowledge of open-source technologies and community
  • Being able to work with version control on Git
