Job Overview    

A member of our growing Power Systems team, providing technical studies input for a range of projects involving UK and international clients. The work will focus on delivery of power systems analysis services for distribution, transmission and conventional/renewable generation projects around the world. 

The Graduate will provide technical input into multiple projects’ studies and will also lead small project activities.

Responsibilities 

  • Assist and provide technical input on a variety of studies for distribution and transmission networks, renewable energy and grid integration, including: Power system planning, grid connection studies, protection and substation design
  • Analyse the grid code requirements, industry accepted practices and grid connection processes
  • Support and contribute towards the submission of high quality bids and proposals to existing and potential clients
  • Participate in business development activities to meet and foster relationships with current and prospective clients
  • Continuous enhancement of networking at all levels within RINA, client organisations and other external bodies as applicable
  • Continuous improvement of representing RINA to clients at bid presentations and project presentations
  • Lead small-scale project studies

Qualifications

  • Hold a minimum of a Bachelor's or Master's degree in Electrical Engineering, Power Systems or other relevant technical discipline

Knowledge   

  • Possess an understanding of power system theory
  • Possess an understanding of transmission and distribution grids (LV to 400 kV) around the world, 
  • Knowledge of Laplace controller models and their operation

Skills   

  • Acceptable skill with modern simulation software and electrical circuit modelling tools e.g. PSS/E, DigSILENT Powerfactory, ETAP, ERACS etc.
  • A preliminary understanding of Project Management principles and tools
  • Ability to work effectively within a flexible team environment
  • Good interpersonal skills
