Our Oil and Gas team are industry experts on the design and use of fluid seals for the most critical sub-sea Oil and Gas applications. Customers include major Upstream Valve, Well Head and Down Hole Tooling OEMs and their end users.

Main duties of this role will include:

  • Designing and developing new innovative Oil and Gas sealing products for specific market applications.
  • Delivering sealing solutions that meet our customers exacting standards.
  • To provide first class technical support for enquiries, material recommendations and operating conditions to to our customers and colleagues in the UK and overseas.
  • To provide advice on seal applications and fitting.
  • Liaising and updating relevant stakeholders on projects that you are leading.
  • Investigating seal failures and provide reports on recommendations and implement corrective and preventative action.
  • Assisting in the preparation of product literature.
  • Travel to meet with customers and to other James Walker offices and manufacturing companies.

You must have:

  • Practical engineering skills with the ability to read and create drawings and interpret and analyse data.
  • Previous experience in a design role within an engineering environment would be preferred for the Product Engineer role.
  • An engineering related qualification such as a HND or HNC.
  • An honours degree in Mechanical Engineering, or related subject, accredited by the IMechE is preferred.
  • Experience, or specific training, on sub-sea Oil and Gas applications is preferred for the Product Engineer Role.
  • A resilient approach and willing to go the extra mile to improve standards and performance.
  • Excellent communication skills along with the ability to build great relationships.
  • The ability to problem solve and see tasks through to completion with a right first time attitude.
  • The willingness and enthusiasm to embrace change, look at new ways of working and support continuous improvement initiatives and projects.
