What our Instrumentation and Control Engineering Degree Apprentices do

Based at our Teesside sites in the North East of England, we are recruiting for the role of Instrumentation and Control Engineering Degree Apprentice, which is perfect if you want an opportunity that will give you hands-on experience from day one. At Mitsubishi Chemical UK Ltd our degree apprentices don’t sit on the side-lines; you become a vital team member delivering support to the manufacturing team to deliver site targets, gaining hands-on experience whilst conducting your degree apprenticeship. You will join one of our multi-discipline asset engineering teams which include Instrumentation, Electrical/Control and Mechanical disciplines, working to ensure our manufacturing plants operate safely and reliably or executing the improvements and new-build projects that underpin our continued business success.

What’s in it for you

Our role offers you a fantastic opportunity to complete a sponsored part-time BEng degree apprenticeship at Teesside University whilst developing work-based knowledge and experience during the 6 year (4 year if entry with HNC) degree apprenticeship on a top tier COMAH asset. We provide tailored support, development and management mentoring to help you achieve your full potential and make an impact on the business. You will be challenged and stretched, but you will also be supported and trusted every step of the way whilst gaining the relevant skills, knowledge and experience towards chartered engineer status which are accredited by the relevant institutions.

We believe that by being open, honest and respectful with each other and working together as a team, we will be able to deliver our promises. If you thrive in a driven and collaborative environment, then we are the company for you.

The skills we’re looking for

You must have achieved or predicted a minimum of 120 UCAS points, consisting of either 3 A levels including maths and physics, an Engineering BTEC with the maths unit at distinction or a combination of the two or other equivalent qualifications. We will also accept applications from individuals with relevant HNC Engineering qualifications with the majority of units at merit and distinction levels.
We’re looking for passionate individuals who want to take their engineering careers further in the chemical industry and have the potential to become future leaders in our company. Candidates are expected to exhibit behaviours including a strong work ethic, logical approach to problem solving, good communication skills and highly self-motivated to drive a passion for continuous improvement and reliability.

Any relevant work experience would be an advantage but is not mandatory. Driven and committed with a strong team ethic, you’ll need to have a high degree of personal accountability.

What we offer

In addition to a structured and individual professional development plan this degree apprenticeship is fully funded, so you won’t have to pay any tuition fees. We are offering a competitive starting salary of £14,000 per annum, and you will receive significant annual increments based on your performance at work and in your studies, as well as a benefits package that includes 20 days annual leave.
