What you’ll be doing

  • Develop your business acumen and project management skills, learn to analyse and solve problems and understand how decisions effect the bigger picture at the BBC.
  • Learn to work in a team, collaborate and lead, with support from expert project coordinators and colleagues across the BBC – helping us to deliver our products and services around the world.
  • Bring new ideas and help shape the future of the BBC, taking part in projects to transform the business and make us more agile and innovative.
  • And you’ll study for your L6 Degree Apprenticeship qualification awarded by both the University of Cumbria and The Institute of Apprenticeships and Technical Education, with modules

Such as:

  • Governance and financial control of BBC projects and business activities
  • Working in local, regional, national or international settings
  • Managing stakeholder and communications
  • Managing organisational change
  • Estimating, planning and scheduling
  • Applying quality management frameworks
  • Managing procurement and supplier contracts
  • Managing risks
  • Organisational strategy

Who we’re looking for

To be eligible for this apprenticeship, you must:

  • Be aged 18 or over when the course starts in September 2022
  • Have Maths and English GCSEs or Standard (Scotland) at 9-4 (A-C) or equivalent
  • A-Levels (such as Maths, English, Business Studies); a Level 3 qualification in ICT or Business Studies/Management; or another relevant qualification at a pre-degree level
  • Be legally allowed to work in the UK
  • Have lived in the UK, Ireland or the European Economic Area (EEA), for at least three years before the start of the apprenticeship. Or have either pre-settled or settled status under the EU Settlement Scheme and lived in the UK, EEA or Gibraltar for at least three years

  • Well organised and motivated
  • Open, approachable and able to build trust
  • Experienced in administration and managing
  • Good at multitasking and prioritising
  • A strong communicator
  • Comfortable collaborating with a diverse team
  • Able to be resilient and flexible when needed
  • Keen to work on digital and data-led projects
  • A good problem solver

Don’t worry if you don’t have an extensive CV or have never worked in business management – just tell us about times you’ve shown you can manage and lead elsewhere. That could be during your time in education, or through self-learning, volunteering or work experience.

What you’ll get

During your apprenticeship:

  • A starting salary of £15,074 (+ London Living Allowance), and potential pay increases

At the end of your apprenticeship:

  • A recognised degree awarded by the University of Cumbria, along with an apprenticeship qualification awarded by The Institute of Apprenticeships & Technical Education
  • An offer of a role in one of the BBC’s professional business management and administrative teams, with a starting salary of £25,927 or more
  • The chance to seek new challenges and work in different areas of the BBC
