Save to shortlist Saved to shortlist Apply now

At Taylor Wimpey we are evolving and for any graduate who is enthusiastic, adaptable and eager to learn an exciting journey awaits you. The graduate programme will provide you with the technical expertise, business breadth and development to be successful and fast track you into leadership.

It doesn't matter if you have no knowledge of the industry or a construction related degree, you'll learn everything you need to know throughout the two year programme. Our General Graduate scheme will enable you to gain a full appreciation of the build life cycle, support functions, understand why Taylor Wimpey is one of the UKs leading housebuilders and at the end of the programme you will be offered a permanent role in a discipline that aligns to your career aspirations.

A bit about us:

Taylor Wimpey is one of the largest homebuilders in the UK, operating from 24 regional offices across England, Scotland and Wales. We were formed by the merger of George Wimpey and Taylor Woodrow in 2007, and have operations in the UK and Spain. We aim to be the developer of choice for customers, employees, communities and shareholders.

We integrate sustainability into the design and construction of our homes and developments and are working towards our target to reduce carbon emissions from customer homes in use by 75% by 2030. Our standard house types integrate energy efficiency measures and other sustainability features, and from 2021, a working from home area that can help customers reduce their travel footprint. But that's not all; as well as energy and climate change, our sustainability standards include nature, water and floor risk, ventilation, sound insulation, air quality, materials and waste and quality, connectivity and accessibility.

The programme:

The programme runs for two years and begins with a 4-day residential induction where you will learn more about the business, meet other graduates in your cohort and hear from previous graduates and their journeys.  Over the two years you will also attend various personal development sessions and you will have the opportunity to work on projects both for the business and for charity.

For the first 6 months you will be rotating around the various business functions; land, technical, commercial, sales, construction, finance, and customer service. Once completed you will then undertake 3 x 6-month placements in specific business functions.  In your placement you will be provided with meaningful work whilst still exposing you to the wider operations of that discipline. These placements will be undertaken at different regional locations dependant on your division.

Each of our graduates will be assigned a buddy which will enable you to settle into your role and have access to a mentor to support your ongoing development.

You will also have the opportunity to undertake business and charity projects to widen your business breadth throughout the programme. Included but not limited to:

  • Corporate Social Responsibility project
  • Graduate Business Case challenge
  • Graduate networking events

What you will have:

  • 2:1 degree or above
  • Willingness to travel around the UK and are happy to stay away from home for short periods of time
  • Ability to find innovative and creative solutions to solve problems
  • Willingness to challenge the norm
  • The ability to focus on the customer always
  • Full driving license and access to a car

Checks and eligibility to work:

To be successful in this role you must be able to prove eligibility to work in the UK and hold a full UK drivers’ licence.  You will also be requested to provide copies of your qualifications.

We commit to treating all our job applicants and employees fairly and with respect, irrespective of background, disability or any other protected characteristic. In addition to receiving first class training, we will also provide you with the exposure to our senior leaders across the business providing you with an opportunity to showcase your talents. We embrace diversity and look to develop our people in the skills and areas they are most interested in, leveraging the qualities and appreciate the unique competencies, skills and experiences that each person brings to the company.
