I joined Sky in 2013 via the Software Engineering Academy Programme to be a Software Developer.
My reasoning behind applying to Sky is because the company is constantly providing innovative and quality technological products to its customers and to get a chance to be a part of a company that is constantly striving for excellence, would be beneficial for developing a professional software engineering skillset and to learn what exactly is involved in developing and delivering high quality products.
Since I joined the company, I have worked on the development of an iPad application. By working on the project I have not only learned various new technologies but also learned the various business related activities, which are involved in the development of software in an industry environment.
I look forward to new projects, learning new technology and working in new teams, but what I really look forward to is the new challenges that are involved in a new project.
If you are a recent graduate and applying for jobs in technology, my advice would be to not worry about the technical aspects of the role, as skills such as communication, teamwork and problem solving have a greater weight.
