Hi, my name is Jamie and I am currently on a student placement at Mercedes AMG High Performance Powertrains.
My placement year has been spent working in the build support department, working closely with the engine builders on a daily basis.
Our job as a build support team is to ensure the build of the engine is possible, liaising with the builders to ensure we supply them with the best possible tooling to successfully assemble the engine in a fast and efficient manner.
A large part of my work includes designing tooling for both the engine builders in the factory and for the trackside mechanics. I am also working on a research project with the company which I will continue to work on throughout my final year at University.
Mercedes has given me the invaluable experience I needed to thoroughly understand the company and engineering in general.
