Globally, Asset Management is bringing about a paradigm shift in how we care for the critical infrastructure on which we depend upon so greatly. This can include infrastructure across sectors including airports, water, rail, highways, power, gas, industry, defence. Asset Management is focused on extracting value from our assets. It is about ensuring that we are doing the right amount of work, at the right time, at the right cost, to deliver the right level of service. It's a hot topic right now. Budgets are being squeezed and the focus is shifting on making the most of our existing assets and better targeting future investments. We blend engineering know how with economic acumen and leading edge technology to advise on how to work better and deliver what customers want.
As a graduate engineer in our asset management team you would help to advise clients on how to optimise the ways they manage their existing assets. This often means collecting and using much better asset data and using technology to forecast performance and costs of varying scenarios. You would be joining a world leading team in this area.
Our Asset Management team are looking for graduate civil engineers or project managers (who also have engineering study or experience) to join our teams in Birmingham, Bristol, London or Cambridge.
We asked our graduates what it’s like to do their job. On a day to day basis, the life of a graduate at WSP starts off in the morning with cups of tea and responding to any urgent client emails.
Beyond that, anything could happen! You could get involved in report writing, modelling or design calculations in 3D software packages. Your day could also involve visiting site and liaising with contractors, discussing options for concept designs with colleagues, responding to client requests for information or meetings with the team about the scope and progress of projects.
Naturally, there is a lot to learn and you are likely to be guided through complex software packages, team briefings and client updates from the start.
