A typical week would include:

  • Contribute to the timely delivery of the groundwater monitoring project, supporting the Project Manager and other technical staff.
  • Monitor daily notifications from the automated laboratory reporting system and respond in a timely manner to alerts/trigger warnings.
  • Ensure timely transfer of monitoring data from the monitoring sub-contractor, undertake QA of data, upload to database and manage database so that it is maintained and up to date.
  • Respond in accordance with project timelines to standard reporting events and non-compliance events.
  • Track laboratory performance and deal with sample queries through the monitoring sub-contractor;
  • Liaise with the monitoring sub-contractor to organise monitoring schedules, access permits and any other required consents, and act as the interface between the sub-contractor and clients.
  • Prepare accurate and timely monthly data summary reports, quarterly factual reports and annual interpretative reports.
  • Co-ordinate updates to monitoring plans, risk assessments and method statements.
  • Maintain project programmes and update quality and environmental plans in accordance with project requirements.
  • Undertake defined technical tasks within existing and new projects to produce deliverables on time to the required quality and to budget.
  • Work in a collaborative way, taking direction from and supporting intermediate and senior staff, to achieve project goals and meet deadlines as part of the SCR team.

While the focus of the role is as described above, in time, the successful candidate may have the opportunity to gain experience across the breadth of Golder’s environmental consultancy business as workload dictates.

Project-based travel and field work, working away from home in the UK, is required for this role.

The frequency and duration of this will depend on business and client need; however, it is anticipated that this will be not more than 20% of the time. 

We'd love to hear from you if you have:

  • Minimum qualification is a degree (BSc or BEng) in an earth science subject.
  • Interested in data management and handling, and interpretative reporting.
  • Aware of current environmental legislation related to groundwater, surface water and contaminated land.
  • Understand and aware of health & safety requirements.
  • Excellent communication skills, verbal and written (in English), and confidence to communicate with people at all levels.
  • Ability to write technical reports that are clear and concise.
  • Flexible and adaptable to changing situations.
  • Genuine enthusiasm for the role, displaying a willingness to learn and develop.
  • Ability to work collaboratively as part of a team.
  • Ability to make decisions and display initiative.
  • Good organisational ability and time management skills.
  • Strong attention to detail.
  • Proficient in the use of Microsoft Office software (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access).
  • Full UK Driving Licence.
  • Flexibility, willingness, and ability to travel.
