"The huge opportunities and number of different projects WSP are involved in and the large pool of technical experts to support and guide you throughout your journey."
Hi, I’m Haytham, I joined the Bridge Engineering team in Bristol in 2019 after graduating from Swansea University with a MEng in Civil Engineering. I am passionate about what I do because from a young age I was encouraged to work hard and play hard. I also manage to find the positives and interesting aspects about any problem which means I’m super enthusiastic.
The huge opportunities and number of different projects WSP are involved in and the large pool of technical experts to support and guide you throughout your journey. The best part is meeting new like-minded people and to share and challenge one another to success. The ECP team also are a great point of contact to ease you into the company and are super friendly! All the activities and fun plans in the calendar provide opportunities to connect and understand each other organically. It’s really important to have likeminded and passionate people to speak to and collaborate with during your time, it certainly makes office culture more vibrant!
The culture at WSP is friendly, warm, and genuine. I’m proud to work here as the projects we deliver the solutions we come up with and the positive impact we can have on communities up and down the country! It’s important to have a positive growing culture where everyone feels heard and understood personally and professionally. I feel my Line manager/Delegated Engineer has always been available to help and support me through any concerns I have and it’s important to be honest about that and the culture allows those conversations to occur. We offer charity days, and the office had a WaterAid cake sale and raffle that went towards the charity and thought it was super engaging! Turned out I won the first prize to get meal for two at honest burgers what goes around comes around.
The application process was really easy. I attended a face-to-face assessment day in Basingstoke and was varied in the different activities to complete on the day. I was made to feel welcomed at the assessment centre, they understood that everybody gets nervous on the day, but the time flies and before you know the day is out of the way.
The Bridges team is possibly one of the strongest and most agile team I have known in my experience constantly challenging the norm and the range of projects is super vast! We need to grow, and you can certainly make that happen. Plus, why wouldn’t you want to make your mark on solutions that last 100+ years?! We have a range of nationalities; everyone is active, and no one is left out! Always busy and there is plenty of collaboration across the board.
