We are seeking individuals with an interest in surveying and mapping the environment using various topographical and laser scanning survey methods as well as aerial data capture. The job provides opportunities to travel and collect data around the U.K and beyond, using a variety of problem solving methods and techniques. The role will involve carrying out fieldwork for topographical surveys and laser scanning surveys on varied sites using various different technologies and techniques. Excellent opportunity to gain outdoor site-based experience.

Training will be provided to develop the theoretical and practical skills you have learnt during your degree so you can work towards professional accreditation and you will also be enrolled in our Graduate Development Programme to allow you to develop a career within our diverse business.

Responsibilities associated with the position include:

  • Liaison with other members of the Geomatics team to enable work to be delivered to time, budget and quality.
  • Communication of project related issues to the relevant Senior Surveyor and Geomatics Project Manager.
  • Assistance in the production of survey drawings and reports.
  • Assistance in the production of Method Statements and Risk Assessments and Safe Plan of Actions.


Essential Criteria

  • A degree or equivalent qualification in a Geospatial related subject, Geography, Geology, Geomatics or Surveying
  • A minimum of GCSE grade A-C in Mathematics and English
  • A desire to develop your career by learning on the job, in a practical, outdoor, team environment.
  • Strong personal management and timekeeping skills.
  • You will be keen to work within a range of environments including the Highways, Rail, Environmental, Energy and Property sectors.
  • You will need to hold a full UK driving licence as the role will involve use of the survey support vehicle and travel to remote site locations.
  • Flexibility is required and you must be prepared to spend time on site working away from the regional office, to include occasional unsocial working hours.

Desirable Skills

  • A/AS Level (or equivalent) qualifications in Mathematics and Geography.
  • Relevant work experience in an outdoor, site based environment.
