This programme is part of a much bigger journey with Severn Trent, one that will guide you through three unique placements, into a leadership position in a business area of your choice. Along the way, you’ll learn about every facet of our business, from harnessing the power of water to delivering it to millions of homes and businesses.

Tap into your Potential
Over twenty-seven months, and three, nine-month placements, you’ll work side-by-side with teams, leaders and technical experts in very different areas of Severn Trent. This could include collaborating with Frontline Operations to train staff, producing and delivering tenders for new business, or signing off detailed technical designs for new networks. You’ll stretch your knowledge, enhance your skills, and become an all-round expert in everything that makes our business flow.
As you take each new step, you’ll find a firm foundation to support you. That includes rigorous training programmes, a Line Manager who will tailor your development to your specific needs and interests, and the chance to work on the frontline of our business.
Before you start the programme, we’ll have a series of in-depth conversations with you, during which we’ll discuss your interests, aspirations and abilities. Together, we’ll connect the dots that link where you are now to where you’d like to be in the future. We’ll then use our insights to plan that transition to a leadership position, choosing placements that match
your ambitions, and aligning your personal vision with that of our business as a whole.
As you complete your placements, we’ll have regular meetings to track your progress against that map, finding and filling in any gaps in your knowledge. For example, if you want to take on a frontline leadership role but don’t have much customer experience, we’ll put you in a customer-focused role on your next rotation. If you haven’t supported a big project, we’ll make sure you get to tackle one. We’ll also provide you with placement-specific training to complement our more general, programme-wide scheme.
At the end of your programme, you’ll have the key tools and understanding you need to take on a Business Leadership role at Severn Trent. In some instances, our Graduates will step into one of these positions immediately. In most cases, they’ll take on a substantive position in a department of their choice before making that transition. Whichever route you end up taking, we’ll continue to support you, explaining your options and helping you to pick one that suits your objectives.
