Engineering & Investment

Engineering & Investment are looking for recent Graduates to come into the business and take on an exciting and challenging role looking after the planning and development of our distribution networks in the North of Scotland. Engineering & Investment are responsible for assessing SSEN’s existing network to cater for the growth in renewable generation connections and manage our CAPEX investment programme to ensure that our electricity networks remain fully compliant with the technical and regulatory requirements of our license. You will also gain wide ranging knowledge and experience of the electricity industry by working with other industry bodies, such as the industry regulator OFGEM, the UK Transmission Operator National Grid, and Renewable Developers.

As an Engineering & Investment Engineer you will be responsible for meeting SSEN’s ongoing objectives to continuously improve the safety, security, reliability and capacity of our distribution networks you will identify and specify the works required to optimise the performance and condition of the existing assets and for producing documentation supporting our statutory license conditions. You will also analyse the capability of our networks to accommodate both demand and high volume generation connections, specify innovative technical solutions, and work closely with the design and delivery teams to ensure the network is developed in the most economic, efficient and co-ordinated manner to meet customer requirements.

About You

We invite applicants with an MEng or BEng in Electrical Engineering to apply with a minimum of a 2.2. In addition to your academic qualifications you will have had previous experience in a team environment and will be used to setting and achieving targets and using your own initiative to overcome challenges. You should be industrious, highly organised and self-driven with the ability to deliver to tight schedules.
