What is the Role?

As an Energy Analyst, you will solve a new problem every day: how to optimise the dispatch of a power station, value a gas storage site, model how renewable output changes with weather patterns and calculate the variability in SSEs energy market revenue to name a few. No day is the same in this exciting and dynamic team.

You will learn how the GB electricity and gas markets operate, understand how trading is used to stabilise revenue, all while developing your knowledge across many different disciplines, working for a company at the forefront of tackling climate change; currently building with worlds biggest offshore windfarm, developing carbon capture/storage project for sustainable flexible generation and exploring opportunities for natural energy storage, building on our heritage in hydro electric power.

For a better world of energy

Our core focus is economically regulated electricity networks and renewables. Complemented by businesses with a key role to play in enabling the net zero transition.

Your Skills & Experience

To be successful in this role you will ideally be educated to degree level in a STEM or Finance discipline.

You will know your way around a spreadsheet, have an eye for detail and have the ability to understand and model complex processes. Experience in handling large data sets for the purposes of quantitative analysis and proficiency in using Python, R, SQL, Power BI or equivalent is deliverable. You will have good interpersonal skills in order to work collaboratively with a wide range of internal and external stakeholders. This role has operational deadlines closely aligned to the operating hours of the wholesale energy market.

Previous energy market experience would be useful but not essential.
