We are SSE

A number of our employees from different parts of the business and locations across the UK and Ireland offer an overview of what drives us at SSE - from award-winning customer service and generating green energy to giving back to the community.

Why join SSE?

As one of the UK's largest energy companies, we're always keen to meet great talent who can support SSE’s growth in the power, telecommunication and utilities industries, and our commitment to the UK’s digital and power agendas. As the largest generator of energy through renewable sources, a market leader in the electric vehicle (EV) evolution and a leading telecoms network provider, we can offer you the opportunity to make a real difference for our customers and the communities in which we operate.

What will I do on the placement?

SSE has recently moved to Office365 and is increasingly using the associated suite of products to manage its business.

SSE Enterprise Utilities is looking for an individual to review and recommend better use of these products to support knowledge management within the business. This is crucial to supporting the expansion of this part of the business that uses this information every day to support bids for example. The role will involve reviewing current practice with SSE Enterprise and SSE as a whole as well as looking at good practice outside of the company, making recommendations and implementing some of the changes foreseen. In addition, the individual would work with team within Utilities to pull together existing knowledge. The role will also expose the selected candidate to all aspects of working in a busy office.

The role may involve some limited travel within the UK and therefore a full UK driving licence would be an advantage.

What do I need to apply?

For this role, you'll ideally be studying for a degree in a numerical related discipline.

We’d love you to already have had some practical work or project experience that reflects your passion for business, as well as demonstrable experience of working in a team. You’ll also be comfortable working to and setting stretching individual targets and using your own initiative to overcome challenges.

You should have an interest in the energy, business-to-business, contracting, rail, utilities and telecommunications industries and show alignment with SSE's core values.

If you want to work in an environment passionate about safety, innovation, teamwork and excellence in everything we do, you'll be proud to be part of the SSE family. For us it's not just about being good at what you do - it's about enjoying what you do, too so we'll encourage and empower you to be imaginative, share your great ideas, and do work that you can be proud of.
