Inmarsat’s Chief Technology Office (CTO) business unit sits at the core of our business and focuses on innovative technology development and engineering. The CTO maintains a centre of excellence for technology and broader infrastructure-related innovation, translating market needs into core expansion programmes to enable market development. We ensure that Inmarsat’s products and services are constantly pushing the boundaries of satellite communications. The CTO team is responsible for delivering Inmarsat development programmes, including satellites and launchers, ground infrastructure (ground stations, networks, user terminals and access technology), regulatory, market access and product and service development.
Inmarsat’s Chief Operations Office (COO) plays a vital role managing the services that keep our business running and delivering to our customers. COO consists of 9 functions from Satellite Operations to Customer Service and Service Delivery, Network Operations and Service Assurance to Group IT, One IT, Cyber Security and the Digital office.
Inmarsat’s Product Group brings a more product-centric focus to our business. The group is accountable for the end-to-end lifecycle of the products and is responsible for their financial performance and profitability.
Primary role purpose:
The Engineering and Technical Graduate Programme is a 2 year development role offering 4 six month rotations within specialist teams including but not limited to; system architecture, engineering, space system development, spectrum management, satellite and network operations and network security.
The programme will offer continuous learning and development to challenge, enrich and establish you alongside some of the leading professionals in the industry.
Individuals on the programme will be required to participate in a business skills programme over 20 months to develop skills such as presentation, business writing, time management and effective stakeholder management as well as commercial acumen.
In between each rotation participants in the programme will also embark on an ‘experience week’ to understand the broader business in more detail, this may include some travel.
At the end of the programme participants will be placed in a permanent role within one of our CTO, COO or PG teams.
This role will be mainly based in London, but there maybe opportunities to work in one of our international offices.
Essential Knowledge and Skills:
We are looking for students with a range of STEM related backgrounds to enable us to develop broad skills needed for our future business.
Our minimum requirements are a 2:1 undergraduate degree (or equivalent) in a relevant subject. For example: Computer Science, Engineering (Aeronautical, Electrical or Mechanical), Physics, Mathematics or Technology. All STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics) subjects will be considered.
Individuals must have drive, ambition and dedication with a desire to succeed.
There will be an expectation that participants demonstrate a genuine interest and passion in the industry and are keen to continue to develop this throughout their careers.
Industry related work experience is not essential but desirable. Some work experience (paid or voluntary) with evidence as to the skills this has developed in highly desirable.
