The role

We have an opportunity for a Level 6 (degree) Apprentice Utilities Technician to start in Summer/Autumn 2023.

In this role, you join a utilities team, that provides end-to-end utility solutions. Utilities are what keeps the water flowing and the electricity supplied to switch on the lights. There are four main utilities that we all use each day, Water, Gas, Electricity and Telecommunications.

You will be working directly to support with the planning and coordination within our utilities space, which develop the implementation of sustainable end-to-end utility solutions that strengthen the infrastructure in our communities.

Your role will be key for building relationships with a range of stakeholders that supports utilities design developments. Some of your day-to-day activities could include:

Building relationships and acting as a liaison between our internal utilities and planning teams to coordinate, record and manage key information between the client and stakeholders.
Collecting key information and data from a range of sources and stakeholders to support the planning and implementation of utilities projects.
Using Computer Aided Design (CAD) to produce drawings for utilities designs developments.
Constructively challenge teams to address utility issues through design development, considering factors such as environmental impacts and low carbon emissions.

Our Apprenticeships allow you to learn whilst you earn as you study for an academic qualification. You’ll get the chance to expand your knowledge by attending college or university on day release. Where you will gain either a BEng Civil Engineering degree.

About you

For our apprenticeships no previous experience is required. If you are self-motivated, proactive, and eager to learn then this could be for you.

Qualifications:

For a Level 6 degree apprenticeship you will need 3 A Levels Grade B or above in (Maths, Further Maths or Science) and/or BTEC Extended Diploma in Engineering – DMM to include Further Engineering Mathematics.

Someone who has good attention to detail
Someone who can demonstrate excellent verbal and written communication skills to present information in speech, drawings, and reports
